Looking for a winter weekend getaway in Texas that's dog friendly? I have 8 different options for you, from the deserts of West Texas to the Gulf Coast.

With all the hubub of the holidays, it’s nice to dedicate a weekend to slow down and decompress a little. Instead of leaving your pup behind, check out one of these 8 places for your next dog friendly winter weekend getaway! Whether you are ready to explore the deserts of West Texas, the woodlands of East Texas, hit the Texas wine trail or just lounge at the beach, there is an option for everyone!

NOTE: many of these hotels are AirBnBs. If you’ve never used AirBnB before, use this link to get $40 off your first home booking and $15 to use toward an experience worth $50 or more! I’ll also get a $30 credit in return, so it’s a nice win/win!

For the Desert Drifter

El Cosmico– Marfa, TX

El Cosmico is THE place to stay if you are headed to the art mecca of Texas that is Marfa. It’s completely dog friendly, and you can choose to pitch your own tent OR you can opt for a Safari tent, a yurt, a teepee, a very hip(ster) trailer, or even their limited-edition Cosmic Kasita.

Holland Hotel- Alpine, TX

If you’d like something a little more refined, check out the historic Holland Hotel! This hotel doesn’t look dog friendly, but it welcomes pet guests just as enthusiastically as it welcomes humans. In fact, this hotel takes it to the next level by fostering shelter pets and helping them find their furever home! Enjoy some quiet time in front of the roaring fireplace, or go hiking at nearby Davis Mountains State Park.

For the Wine Enthusiast

Oeste Boutique Campground– Dripping Springs, TX

Glamping in a teepee is perfect for your dog, because they have plenty of room to walk around! Oeste is a sweet little campground that feels very remote, but it’s a short drive to some incredible (and dog friendly!) wineries like Hawk’s Shadow Estate Winery and Bell Springs Winery.

Hidden Treasure Cabin– Fredricksburg, TX

The 290 wine trail is Texas’ best known wine route! Enjoy some nearby wineries (many of which are dog friendly!) and then retreat to this adorable tiny home with a beautiful porch overlooking the hill country.

For the Beach Bum

Brass Turtle Lodge– Ingleside, TX

Enjoy this cute little cabin with private beach access! Guest reviews include comments like “a perfect place to take a relaxing weekend away from everything” and “if you’re looking to escape to your own oasis, this is your place.” Texas’ winters might be too gloomy for us humans to play in the ocean, but I’ve found the pups normally don’t mind it!

Dancing Dunes– Port Aransas, TX

Dancing Dunes offers a handful of cute cabins in Port Aransas of varying sizes. They are located just a few blocks from the beach and are also close to the main drag in this tiny Texas beach town. I love Port Aransas because it is so laid back, the beach is lovely, and they have a lot of dog friendly restaurants, bars, and cafes.

For the Woodsy Wanderer

Getaway Escape from Dallas– LaRue, TX

I discovered Getaway cabins on Instagram, and it’s easy to see why. All of their cabins scattered across the USA are absolutely breathtaking. AND they are all pet friendly! Escape from Dallas is Getaway’s first outpost in Texas, and I can’t wait to book a weekend visit!

Bleu Cottage– Huntsville, TX

Y’all, look at how stinking cute this cabin is! One of my 2020 resolutions is to hike some of Texas’ incredible forests, and this property is right next to Sam Houston National Forest and the Lone Star trail– the longest continuous hiking trail in the state of Texas at 96 miles long!
